Christmas Brunch ~ Oxford Cafe Style

Official Oxford Attire
"The Oxford Saloon & Cafe, located in the heart of downtown Missoula, was established in 1883 and is open 24 hours a day, all through the year. The Ox has been open 24 hours a day for so many years that there are no keys for the entrances."

Regardless of how trendy Missoula has become, places like the Oxford are what attracted and retained people here in the first place.  As the history section of the website relates, "The clientele were mostly hard working men who came to get a decent meal or drink at a working man’s wages. Intermingled were lawyers, Judges, doctors, University Students, and yes, even a U. S. Senator, later to become an Ambassador to Japan."

Mike Mansfield was that Ambassador/Senator and his collection of historic Western Montana photographers now graces the walls of the Oxford.

Oxford Holiday Style
Even in a crowd of regulars, a newcomer will always be welcomed to a seat. And the prices guarantee that all who enter can also eat.

OK! I like pepper and Heinz 57
Fried eggs, hash browns and toast with coffee including a worthwhile tip was $7. That kind of trend should keep the Oxford open for at least another hundred plus years of twenty-four hour days.

Unlike so many other Montana (and Missoula) dining establishments, the Oxford even has a vegetarian burger option. They know it pays to pay attention.

All the best in 2015 to the patrons, staff, and management of the historic Missoula Oxford Saloon and Cafe. You've been doing the important things right for a long time!
